Fifteen current and prospective Thoroughbred owners gathered at Arlington Park on the morning of Saturday, July 5 to soak in the expertise of one dozen industry leaders on the many aspects of Thoroughbred ownership.

Dan Sullivan, president of the Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Foundation, opened the seminar with an introduction to the Illinois Thoroughbred industry. The morning was followed by panels on the topics of racehorse acquisition (panelists included Mike Campbell, Anthony Granitz and Marty Nixon), the owner/trainer relationship (Barry Golden, Michael Stidham, Dave Block and Chris Block), business issues (Jim Benkoil, Glen Berman and Joel Campbell) and Thoroughbred retirement (Jan Ely). The seminar wrapped up with lunch at the Terrace Café overlooking the Arlington Park track, and a sunny afternoon of racing.

TOBA’s seminar and clinic program, sponsored by The Blood-Horse, is open to anyone with an interest to learn more about a variety of aspects of the Thoroughbred industry.
