Catesby Clay

 

June 2014 member of the month

 

Runnymede Farm in Paris, Ky. is the matriarch of Bluegrass nurseries. Founded in 1867 by Colonel Ezekiel Clay, Runnymede has turned out stellar runners for nearly 150 years. Currently, Col. Clay’s grandson, Catesby, carries on the family’s regal legacy.

 

Most recently, Catesby Clay Investment bred Undrafted, who won the grade III Jaipur Stakes on the Belmont Stakes undercard on June 7. Now aiming for the July 12 Darley July Cup at Newmarket, Undrafted (Purim-French Jeannette, by French Deputy) sped the Jaipur’s six-furlong distance in a scorching 1:07.24 under jockey John Velazquez. August 4: Pedigree & Conformation Clinic at Fasig-Tipton

Pedigree discussions include general theory, such as in-breeding, out-crossing and nicking as well as overall conformational factors. The seminar will identify common conformation faults and the effects of those faults as well as a live conformation workshop.

 

August 7: Ownership Seminar at Saratoga Race Course

This seminar features the owner/trainer relationship, options for acquiring horses, business topics, online resources and retirement. Attendees will also enjoy an afternoon of racing at the Saratoga Race Course.

Arapahoe Park Launches a Race-Day Medication-Free Incentive

 

 

Arapahoe Park launches a race-day medication-free incentive beginning this Friday. Trainers who win a race with a horse void of any race-day medication will receive a $1,000 bonus per victory to be paid from a special fund created by Arapahoe Park. Read more.

Breeding Clinic Provided Three Education-Packed Days in Kentucky

 

 

The annual TOBA Breeding Clinic started off strong on Friday, May 30 in the heart of the Bluegrass. Sixteen attendees from all over North America gathered in Lexington, Ky. to learn and discuss a variety of topics related to breeding Thoroughbreds. Read more.
