Alfonso Mazzetti

Kentucky breeder Alfonso Mazzetti has come a long way from his native Peru. Born in the country’s capital of Lima, Mazzetti immigrated to the United States at age 16 in 1971, settling in Colorado. He achieved notable success in Colorado’s Thoroughbred program, but later made the move to Kentucky. Recently, he co-bred two standout half-siblings: stakes winner Holiday Mischief and 2014 Blue Grass Stakes fourth-place finisher Big Bazinga. Read more.

April 18 Thoroughbred Ownership Seminar
Twenty-nine prospective and current owners gathered at historic Keene Place at Keeneland on Friday, April 18 for the educational Thoroughbred Ownership Seminar. After inspirational opening remarks from KTA/KTOB Executive Director David Switzer, the attendees hopped on a Keeneland shuttle to the training barns of Kenny McPeek and Barclay Tagg for a unique “virtual ownership” session. Tax Depreciation for Race Horses
Moves out of Finance Committee
Washington, D.C. (Thursday, April 3, 2014) – The United States Senate Finance Committee reported today legislation that would extend expired or expiring tax provisions for race horses, including a provision to extend the three-year recovery period. Read more.

29th Annual Dinner Date and Location Announced
TOBA announced this week that the 29th National Awards Dinner will be held on Friday, September 5 at the Lexington Convention Center in Lexington, Ky. The awards dinner honors the achievements of Thoroughbred owners in the four major North American racing regions and breeders in 22 states and Canada. Read more.
